I discovered today that I’m paying for an Adobe acrobat pro subscription that I never use (I assume I signed up for a free trial and forgot to cancel 🙈). I’ve paid for it for over 2 years and never used it but when I tried to cancel I discovered I have an annual subscription paid monthly and they’ll charge me £99 to cancel it. Is there any way to get out of this? I’ve already wasted hundreds on this (my own fault) and I really don’t want to spend more

You say you have wasted hundreds in two years and it is Acrobat pro.
Is it a consumer contract or B2B?

What does the cancellation policy within the terms state?

as it is an annual licence, how many more months left till it would expire? is the £99 the remaining 5 months payments?
May as well get auto renew turned off and continue to pay monthly till it expires if you don't want to pay it in a lump sum.

That I will be charged a cancellation fee of 50% of the remaining months on the subscription if I cancel early. The annual subscription renewed in December (at a higher rate than previously) so I still have 10 months to go

Consumer - It was £15 a month, now it's gone up to almost £20

10 months left, this is 5 months - so I either pay £99 now or £20 a month for another 10 months

All depends on just what payment method.

    Annual contract, paid monthly

    Cancellation Terms

You can cancel your subscription any time via your Adobe Account page or by contacting Customer Support*. If you cancel within 14 days of your initial order, you’ll be fully refunded. Should you cancel after 14 days, you’ll be charged a lump sum amount of 50% of your remaining contract obligation and your service will continue until the end of that month’s billing period.<<

Seems to be the one the OP is on. So seems a bit at odds with what the Op has said on £99 charge.

Yes that's the one - I have 10 months remaining on my annual contract (it renewed in December) and it's 19.97 a month so the cancellation charge is £99.84. I was hoping there might be some way of getting out of this given I haven't used it at all

I can't see any legal or contractual grounds for a smaller settlement payment but nothing to stop you asking them, if you highlight that it hasn't been used, although large US software companies aren't renowned for their compassion and generosity!
