    Hi

Just got a lovely email to say nationwide will be giving me £100 for a Nationwide Fairer Share Payment. I think my husband will be getting one too so that's £200 straight to the credit cards when we get it. I can see it being paid off quicker than I thought

    Hi all

It's been a few months since I updated this.

We have been busy and also trying the savings method for mortgages. So save the money in an account and then use it to over pay as pump summ unfortunately it doesn't not work for us. We rather clear down the debt we have.

Also talking about debt we have been using our credit card more for large expenses. We were going to slowly pay it off but I have decided to use the money I have saved to over payment and also the money we would use for savings each month to pay down the credit card.  It gives my head a feeling of being clear once it's paid off in October. Although it might stretch to November as I have private dental treatment to add. I have paid a massive 700 quid to the card this morning. I am waiting to get my savings account closed and and will transfer the money there. When we get paid we will be adding another 400 to it. So we have about 1300 left to pay in October which will be manageable but I have dental treatment on top of that so that will be paid in November. In my mind it's paid off in October.

This means we have funds to pay the other credit card that we use for going abroad. We are going to Amsterdam so plan to get Christmas gifts there and use that overseas card for it. We won't be going mad but it makes my break more enjoyable I don't have worry about balancing finances. Also with Christmas coming up too it means we have funds for that.

Also we have amcouple more holidays to pay off for next year. Then once these are done we are planning to start overpaying on our mortgage. It just doesn't feel like the balance is going down with the standard mortgage payments.

It will also give us a good chance for when we renew our mortgage too.

So that's our plan in action..

Just paid a total of £2365 on my credit card and next month we should have the remaining balance of less than 100 quid based on the money we have now. However dental treatment will be added to the credit card but I am not too worried about paying that off.

Then it will be a weight off our shoulders. And means we can use money to pay off our holidays and also enjoy our holiday to Amsterdam a bit more. We won't be going mad in Amsterdam. We are quite sensible and also our breakfasts for all days is paid for and also evening meal on first day and last day too. We just need to pay for meals for two nights and also snacks.

Once holidays are paid for we will start over payments again..

Well dentist got canceled this morning so I supposed I have saved some money there. The credit card will be paid off probably end of this month.

No idea when I can go back.yo dentist due to getting time.off work.

This means we could pay our holidays off earlier and have a fresh clean start for the new Year.

    Hi

It's been a while since I posted as been busy with life.

We haven't done overpayments for a while as we have been hammering down our credit card debt which is nearly clear.
Once that is cleared we will be paying off our holiday that is due to be paid in February. We also have another holiday but that doesn't need to be paid until August.

We are planning to put as much as we can on overpayments once the first holiday is paid for by April 30th as that is when our new year for the overpayments threshold starts. Then we will over pay up to the limit. Once the limit is reached we will put that money into savings account so that we can build up funds.

So come october we have the amount owed right down. October is when we can start locking in a deal I think. I was going to plan to making an appointment to see an advisor to see if we are able to hand over money at the end of the fixed term before going on new one without paying an erc? If anyone can help me here that would be great.

If we can give a big.lump.sum.beofre the new deal without paying an erc that would be fab and would help bring down the monthly payments too.

We want to pay it of asap but also want to get work done to the rooms in the house. It's livable at the moment but it would be nice for fresh decor.

So it's the debate of if yo overpay or save form the works to be done..
