thanks for all the kind replies - just a few more things to move from my flat so should be all done by the weekend. It was fairly quick as there was no chain at all - still too long though for what should be a couple of weeks IMO :D

It is a very old house but think the line was either disconnected or on a cable line or something - in the end I did go for the half price line connection though with an 18 month contract (which I dont see a big problem with as I wont be moving my landline away from BT)
  • Congratulations! I'm really excited for you

We were hoping to be in our house before Xmas but due to slow post and solicitors we've now got a completion date of 18th Jan 2008! yaye!
    I :heart2: saving money

    congrats!

The Guardian seem to be running a campaign at the moment against BT and these ridiculous packages - buy it on Saturday, there's bound to be something in the Money section!

    Hope you soon settle in.

My hubby works for BT and its just called BT Openreach now - nothing else has changed just a new name so good luck with your phone line.

    Nope.

Openreach are owned by BT, but are a separate division. 'BT' themselves are still there, and they deal with the network infrastructure such as networks, power & cooling (but are not consumer facing).

BT Openreach is the consumer side of things. BT Wholesale deal with.. well, wholesale! :D

Just to make life complicated
