Car value

That’s why I went the charity route - no paying anyone to take it away!Keep_pedalling said:
To scrap a car you often need to pay someone to take it away. When valuing chattels it is quite OK to bundle it all in with a nominal sums unless you have some high value items.[Deleted User] said:The vehicle has no MOT, does not start and has been standing for a period of time.
I would be inclined to value it as scrap, so possibly £300-£500. I can't imagine probate having an issue with this.0 -
If the car only has scrap value you could try contacting the local authority for the area where the car is currently located. As executor of an estate that included a car over 20 years old that had not been driven for years, the local authority collected and disposed of the car free of charge. It had a nominal value for probate purposes.0

Would a jump start work on a battery that’s been sat that long? Then you might get more than scrap for it.Honi swanky malyponze. Or something.0

How much does the value matter? Are you anywhere near the IHT limit? Do you have squabbling beneficiaries who will hassle you if you don't get 'best value' for them?
If no, then it doesn't much matter ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Post a thread at 11:51 requesting advice and at 1:22 car has been given away. Sorry but why bother asking for advice?poppystar said:
I ended up giving the car to charity - charity gained, no cost to me and no hassle either, they just collected. I feel bad I didn’t get an MOT sorted, new battery etc as the car was loved but at the end of the day I found the car was far more hassle than the house and I didn’t want to get into doing any possible expensive MOT repairs.Jo101 said:poppystar I don't plan to do any work to it. It's not a car I want to drive. Motorway sound interesting, will have a look. Thanks.0 -

Poppystar, I appreciate that, I was just trying to draw attention to the short time line between OPs initial post and their decision to move the car on just 90 mins later.poppystar said:

I am weighing up the pros and cons of all these options and will need to take some time to decide. Appreciate everyone's help.0
