Any readings you have would be useful. 3 baths a day isn't every day is it? Is the not a shower you can use?0

So I've worked out that from March 11th 2022 until 17th November 2022 I used in total 795 units of gas in total 795 units of gas for that period and then the jump is from 17th November 2022 until today which states I have used 1265 units in that period 😳molerat said:Looking at that meter shows an overall average of around 20000 kWh per year so fairly high.Do you have historical meter readings ?You need to start doing daily meter reads, maybe multiple per day, and keep a log.Is this house owned or rented ?Is there a chance the gas is supplying something / someone else ?
Are you able to compare the readings from the same period last year? Comparing use from summer to winter isn't really very helpful, as obviously your pattern of use will differ a lot.
Having said that - if by "units" you are meaning "units as shown on the meter"- ie m3 then that in itself still seems high for the time of year?

Cold weather? I just had a look at our readings, in the period June-October we used 147 kwh of gas. In the period Nov-Jan it was a whopping 2,922 kwhwalsh1229 said:Please could anyone explain to me what i would have to be using to make up for that amount of gas used in less than 3 months 😅
Gas: warm air central heating, instant water heater, Octopus tracker
Electricity: 3kw south facing solar array, EV, Octopus intelligent0 -

Sorry I can't compare as only moved into this property march 2022, I understand that I wouldn't use as much in the summer compared to winter but I think 12,752kwh for nov-jan is really high 😅EssexHebridean said:walsh1229 said:

If the meter's not reading anything when the gas is off then there's no leak. To the experts here - is it possible for a meter to over-read without jumping when nothing's going through? If not, maybe keeping the house at 20℃ is a major factor.
It would be worth trying to find out what temperature the dial position on your boiler correlates to as well, to see if there's scope to bring that down. Others will be able to advise what kind of things could make a system very inefficient.
If the adage is true that a reduction by 1℃ takes off 10% from your usage, setting the thermostat at 19℃ would leave your usage at just under 11,500kWh still. Another degree and another 10% would take that to 10,350 for keeping a house at 18℃ plus whatever the hot water is set to - experts here, is that still horrendous for the months we've had with the really cold snap? (It sounds a lot to me but I've never had gas, so no idea about the realities of it.)1
