Tui cancelled Flights and changed departure airport

Tui has just cancelled/ changed my flights from Bristol Airport on the 3rd of March to Egypt.
They have changed the flights, to departure/arrival to Birmingham Airport.
or option to cancel with full refund.

We still want to go on the holiday but we live in Cornwall and was originally going to travel up in the  morning of our flight.
Now we would have to travel an extra 100 miles and book a hotel for the night before the new flights

Which will cost a lot more the we wanted.  Would i be entitled to any compensation for this as this was not the original airport I booked

Thanks Jonathan

Is it a package holiday that you have with TUI or just flights?  Have the flights actually been cancelled or changed, i.e. do the Birmingham flights have the same flight number as the Bristol ones?

Nothing to stop you asking TUI if they will offer a good will gesture to cover the extra travel to BHX - but no automatic right for compensation in these circumstances.

Our flight to Glasgow was not going to be coming to our destination, we were only told 3 hours before due to take off, after finding a rep to check on when we were due to get picked up for our flight home. We were then put on a flight to Birmingham 2 hours later than expected then had to take 7 hour bus home to Glasgow, they are rejecting our claim for compensation for cancelled flight. Technically the flight was not cancelled it was used to fly to a different destination.

should have probably started a new thread....what was the flight number and date? what reason were you given for the flight not going to Glasgow?
did the fight number change? If not, I would expect your claim to be based on delayed arrival to Glasgow (not cancellation) but whether compensation is due would depend on the reason.

If the previous flight didn't operate, leaving TUI without an aircraft to fly you back to Glasgow, then this presumably signifies that the Birmingham flight was operated by a different aircraft, and I'd imagine that this was an existing flight in their schedule with a different flight number? If this is the case, then I can't see how they'd claim that your flight wasn't cancelled, but as above a long delay essentially gives the same rights, although extraordinary circumstances would nullify compensation eligibility....

Thank you, they also cancelled the Manchester and Gatwick flights and they were all put on the same flight back to Birmingham.

Sounds like an unusual scenario if 3 out of 4 flights were cancelled, which might suggest factors beyond the airline's control - where and when was this?
