    Yeah surely it boils down to if the existing transformer produces voltage between 8 volts and 24 volts that will suffice for the new Pro 2 doorbell?...there is no reason to replace the transformer?

    IMO, "10 to 40VA" is a little worrying too.
    Even 10W is too big power for such a small device, but if this really is the case and if Ring doorbell is wired instead of the existing push button, then the current it consumes goes through the existing chime (the bell coil in your case) and may cause some buzz.
    Similar to some lights glowing when a 'smart' switch is installed instead of a normal one.
