^ This. Our main TV viewing is on a 138" screen but we have something like 26 TVs in our house ...DullGreyGuy said:
I suspect it depends on what metric you are looking at... the average size of screen bought today for the living room or the average size of every TV screen that people own in their home. The average for the later would be significantly reduced by all those that have 10 year old screens and those that have smaller TVs in their/kids bedrooms etc.Gavin83 said:
I'm genuinely surprised it's that low. We've got a 65" TV and I considered that perfectly normal. It's quite easy to pick up a bigger TV than this too.Alderbank said:

Is a 55" tv relatively small?diystarter7 said:So consider this - it your tv is realtively samll 55 or less, with the 1k plus a few hundred pounds you'd be able to get a very decent OLED for about 1600 - the sound is btter as well but for us and many, most use additional sound systems as all flat screen have limited sounds abilty
According to Statista 'TV sets in homes by screen size UK'
c.75 million tv sets in use
Most common size 40-42"
76% of sets are smaller than 50"
only 5% larger than 59"

Yes I did. Initially I was speaking to customer relations team who were basically not interested. Then I spoke to a manager who offered me the repair or £1000, then I escalated this further as I wasn’t happy. Then someone higher up called me and resolved this for me.Manxman_in_exile said:Full marks to JL then.
Pity their CS initially tried to brush you off with "consumer rights" rather than their warranty.
Did you ask for it to be escalated to a manager?0 -
No. I don't have a 138" TV. (Nor do I have 26 TVs in my house).greyteam1959 said:

(Personally I'd never previously imagined that anyone could have a TV nearly 12 feet across - but there you go. I'd also never thought about having one in the bathroom either. As I said before the only TV in my house is an embarrassing 28")0 -
The real lesson here is to persevere when you think customer services are not stating the correct position to you, and get it escalated to a higher level where they might have a better understanding of "the solutions".good2talk said:

The mere thought of a 138" TV is enough to throw anybody's brain out of gear. I'm still recovering...0 -
A house with 26 x 138" TVs would avoid the need for decorating, though. Very MSE.

I'm about to take this ride.
I bought my TV for £669 2 and a half years ago in JL, Sony KD 55XH9505, which the tech has said needs to be replaced.
The nearest replacement they stock (possibly) is the Sony XR 55X90LU at £300 more than I paid, so if I get that exchange, the 5 year warranty will start again ! or will it have 2 and a half years remaining...........
Can this be true

You don't get a new guarantee if they swap it out. If they give you store credit (with a valid reduction for use) then you can use this for a new TV, pay the difference and get a warranty with it.Weirdy said:I'm about to take this ride.
