What small things have you done w/c 30/01
When we start on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards, and canceling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer every day to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important 😀

Evening all
Have a nice holiday @Soundgirlrocks. When / where are you going?Expensive day today, as our new front door was fitted. Rang the company and paid the invoice straight away. Had to pay the fitter separately, which I did by bank transfer. We had the money as we have been saving for it, so no credit involved. It looks great, and it is so nice not to feel a draught round our ankles!I did 3 lots of washing, and got 2 of them almost dry outside on the line. Now finishing off on the airer. The third load can hopefully go out tomorrow, or if it rains, can go on the airer instead.Read the meters and entered the readings on the energy company's web site. Lots used this month unfortunately due to it being so cold
However, the heating was off all day today, as we had no front door - it seemed pointless heating the street! I still haven't turned it on, but the stove is alight now, so quite toasty.Made a cakeMade naan bread pizzas for dinner, used up several bits and pieces from the fridge as toppings. Baked them in the Ninja grill thingy to avoid having the big oven on.Put some sales stuff awayGot stewing beef out of the freezer to make a big casserole in the SC tomorrow.5 -

- Alarm clock off at the wall during day time.
- WiFi off while we were out.
- Tapas lunch with my DW courtesy of a small financial gift I received. We skipped dessert.
- Need to think of ways of generating a small second income. Might go back to doing surveys.
- We were talking about this year's holidays. Need to stay within our means.

Morning everyone. Been away for a long weekend staying at my stepmother's so late to the thread.
1st of the month, so most of my direct debits have gone out, as expected.
So far today, I have:
Checked online banking (no surprises)
Updated spreadsheet
No heating on
Got washing drying on line - its cloudy but there's a bit of a breeze, and the forecast says only a slight chance of a shower
Still to do:
Need to do a big grocery shop, as DS2 was looking after the house and cat while I was away, so there's not a lot left in the fridge, but will stick to my list.
Clean the houseDebt free since December 2015. It can be done4 -
DawnW Las Vegas much delayed trip because of covid. Orignally planned with friend to see them get married / then as driving holiday with a stop off at SIL and a few days in sin city but plans have changed again and now just the two of us and 2 weeks in Vegas. I'm not putting it passed OH for have a shot gun wedding whilst we are out there would certainly be very MSE! OH runs his own business so all expenses go through Amex flights were bough using air miles. It feels a bit OTT at a holiday (I'm more of a camping in scotland girl) but we have had a tough few years and we both had big birthdays this year.
Plan is to try and be as sensible as possible whilst not wasting the trip given how far we are traveling, definialy want to get out into the canyons. Squirrleing lunch from the breakfast buffet etc
Today- Homemade lunch (baked potato and coleslaw again)
- made a coffee at home to take on tube
- checked bank
