We are looking for a few bricks to repair a hole from where we have removed a pipe. House is 1930s in Peterborough by a local builder, Bernard Stokeley. The bricks are 2 inches by 9 inches. I have tried looking for 2 inch bricks but I cant find anything similar. Any ideas on what these are called or where i can find some. Many thanks.

Search out your local builders merchant that has a 'brick library'. A good brick librarian will know the exact brick just from that photo.0

Try your local reclamation yards.0

As long as they are 9" long.. Anything that is 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 inch thick can be cut down to 2" with an angle grinder. If the reclamation yards can't help then https://www.imperialbricks.co.uk/ or https://www.jmedler.co.uk/ - I've used the latter when I needed a small quantity of soft red imperials. Had to go through half a pallet to pick out ones that were the right colour and without damage (I was being very picky). Also needed to shave 10-12mm off the back (diamond blade on a table saw).

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
If you can't get a decent match, can you remove a few matching bricks from a less conspicuous place and use them, replacing them with a poor match.
That will clearly add extra time and effort but might be worth doing.A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".0 -
Thanks all. I will try those. We don’t really have any inconspicuous places because our patio goes right round the house but they must exist because the previous owners filled in a large window in 1996 with the matching bricks.0

Is it a cavity or solid wall?0

It’s cavity. Unusually given the date it was built. We have the builders brochure and our house features in it.0
