    I had a fitbit charge 3.

Once I was on the treadmill. I used the auto-detect feature to notice when I started running. So I ran for say 16 mins then needed a number 2. So I stopped the treadmill and went to the loo. Because I am very unfit, my heart rate stayed high. After I finished, I went back to the treadmill and finished my run. The Fitbit did not detect I had stopped running. Its time for my run included by 1st run, the toilet stop and then the 2nd run. I found that very amusing.
No part of my fitbit was original. The strap was replaced 3 times. The body was replaced once. After it failed a 2nd time I didn't bother with a fitness watch. TI think all these failure happend with 18-24 months of first using it. These replacements were all free so might be costing Fitbit a fortune. Unless it is really cheap kit which would explain why it fails so often.
I would love an Apple watch next but need to save up the pennies.

You don't say whether you're invested in the Android way of life or Apple or what means more to you from these devices than other features etc.

So generally speaking, if you watch The Quantified Scientist on YT, Apple Watch is the all round best.

But if battery life is high priority then it may be a no go. Equally if you don't own an iPhone.

I personally think Garmin's are atrocious for sleep detection accuracy & that's Garmin's, not just one Garmin, but I like them for almost everything else.

Except notifications. For that I much prefer my Galaxy Watch (3).

Depends what features matter most to you, as well as your price point.

HUAWEI WATCH GT 3 highly recommended, long battery life and magnetic wireless charging. After 3 fitbits all having problems this has been great for over 3 months now.

Given what I said earlier, I should be fair.
The watch seemed to be pretty good at sleep monitoring. Not sure how accurate it was but the figures seemed about right.
I can't remember exactly but it needed charging every 4-7 days. Or was that every 2 weeks. Sorry I can't remember.
I wouldn't trust it to be accurate in the number of steps, but again the figures seemed ok. However a few times, it counted steps whilst I was driving my car i.e. moving the steering wheel. It once notified me I had completed 10000 steps as I was driving away from the gym.
Other than the issue listed above, it seemed to be ok with timing any activities known to it. It would not count time on a rowing machine, nor say time spent doing yoga, at least on auto-detect. You can't add rowing as an acitivity it could measure. It did have a setting for classes.
However my information might be completely out of date as I am sure you are aware, there is now a charge 5 which may have fixed the problems I listed.
But as I said, the reason I stopped using it was its failures. Oh and the strap replacement whilst it could have been free (which I didn't know about at the time), I chose to buy replacement straps.

Ive has issues with older higher end fitbits. But I've found the cheapest Fitbit (inspire 2) to be the most reliable and well built.
