Lending money to friends

  • Unfortunately you have learnt the hard way that mixing friends and money never seems to  work out  well. 

    I would plead poverty and ask him for anything just to tide you over.  Maybe he would give you some but cannot manage the whole £300. Failing that bombard him with texts, messages and call round as many times as you can so he cannot ignore you. Maybe send an official letter saying you will be applying to the small claims court and that will involve costs etc even if you have no intention of doing so. 

    Do you have any written evidence of this loan or admittance from him that it was a loan?

    I often post that. As you have said it, I will say a good way to lose fmily/friend is to loan them money.
    We have never asked to borrow a penny from anyone. We have lent out to one of my siblings OH.
    We got the money back 2 years later it was several k's. They did offer about 6 months in and we said, pay others off and then us.

    Best thing, don't lend, don't regret
