SAd news today of Nicola Sturgeon First Minister of Scotland standing down as FM
A sad day for Scotland.Ihaven't looked at the news today but that is sad news. I told dd when she was having her phone battles with Nicola that the first minister was following the rules unlike many in our Govt.Do you think there's any chance Ian Blackford might step up? He's a big miss in the House of Commons especially at PMQs.He always reminded me of the Beast of Bolsover Dennis Skinner standing his ground and stating his case as he was removed from the chamber. He's 91 now and still going strong but not able to to be his old fiery prescence after life saving emergency heart surgery at the Royal London .However early in the pandemic when we were all outside our hospitals supporting our NHS he was outside the Royal London in pouring rain.pollyx

Ugh, I have got another cold - it was less than a month ago I saw off the last one
The most annoying thing is that I have had to cancel my dental hygienist appointment for Friday (can't attend any medical related appointment with any kind of respiratory infection for obvious reasons), and can't get another till the end of June. And no, I am not a NHS patient. Round here it has been pretty much impossible for years to get NHS dental treatment of any kind
Anyway, I have been busy, after days of feeling a bit low and tired, which must have been my body warning me that I was getting a bug. I have walked the dog, redone my freezer inventory, and turned off the small 'overflow' freezer - that should save a bit. I have many meals worth of food in there, so must continue to use it up before restocking. I have also done a bit in the garden, trimmed back the lavender and other perennials in my postage stamp front garden. There are loads of bulbs coming up, but only the snowdrops and hellebores in flower so far. I also repotted the Christmas tree, which was bought in a broken pot with holes in. I didn't know if it would survive to be honest, but it seems ok, so I have given it the best chance with a new, bigger pot and new compost.I then cleaned the bathroom, and finally cooked salmon for dinnerNothing spent today - I have lost track of NSDs this month, but this was definitely oneGrateful today for a sunny afternoon, getting some bits done in the garden, and plenty of food10 -
@pollyanna24. I doubt Ian Blackford from Skye will step up but you never know.
I certainly can't see any natural successor.
Not since the death of Donal Dewar have I felt such a loss to Scottish politics.
I certainly havent cried as I have today.

Great news @Toni'sfriend
F - Freedom - Finally got stuck into the conservatory commited an hour to it and surprised how much I got done. Big pile of stuff to sell or donate but new homes founds for things and looks so much better.
E - Exercise - 100 skips
B - Budget- Got my access back to my online app nothing untoward happening. Had an email advising my BT bill will increase by £7.83 however my DD always claims £10 a month too much and I’m always in £30 credit each quarter so this should cover it. I fear this is the start of the wave of informing me of increases.
R - Rules - Did 2 loads of laundry today and the dishwasher has been on twice so not very energy efficient today.
U - Unburden tat, I now have an organised pile to sort through.
A - Advanced planning, Will spend time at the weekend looking at this.
R - Refuel - sticking to my slimquick, finding it really easy so hope I’m doing it correctly and it works!! Sleeping well. No alcohol.
Y - You - self care - Being proactive in sorting the conservatory has really improved my mood and I picture sitting in there in the spring. 2 people I work with have tested positive for covid. I feel ok and will test in the morning before going in.
2 - 2 trips out - planned
0 - 100 days - May adjust my goals but still aware and working towards them.
2 - Read 2 books - none today
3 - Gratitudes x 3 - Enthusiasm to get things done, productive work day, looking through some photographs I came across that brought back happy memories.

Not since the death of Donal Dewar have I felt such a loss to Scottish politics.
I certainly havent cried as I have today.I finally put the tv news on and watched the coverage of the 1st ministers leaving. One of the recorded comments was from Stephen Gethins who was Elaine Colliar's SMP MP in the kingdom of Fife. I was surprised to find he is no longer in politics as he was very proactive when it came to the food banks and other support they set up years ago.I think Nicola has done the right thing she has a family and has been under a great deal of pressure. I pity anyone who has to take a phone call from dd1 who isn't happy about lockdowns but she took those calls and was polite.I was surprised to get the message from DD1 Have been to tell the CEO I am resigning from today. She got a massive payout and 50 per cent off books for life and is happy in her work now self empoyed.I remember when tie children from Ukraine were on the plane to Scotland both Nicola and Ian - probably others too sending messages to reassure and welcome them. It's very sad she never got Indy. Not sure how true it is but reading Gove, Nigel Farage and "Others" are hoping to reverse Brexit makes it seem we're living in La La Land. No idea if there is any truth in that.I was a remainer . The tech teacher provided by our local education department to help youngest with tech as I wasn't tech savvy. I'd never needed it lost his EU funding and so did many in the UKI read a book on the eve of the vote "The nightmare before Brexit."It was based on a Christmas Carol with the main character an obvious IDS and his blond sidekick and very funny until the result of the vote was declared.I hope you get someone decent she did so much for those struggling. She'll be hard to replace and it's a big job to take on.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Thanks @beanielou.
@DawnW that's great advice, thank you. DS1 was in town this afternoon & the tree hadn't been sold, so he was able to get it for me 😃
Great news @Toni'sfriend, I'm so pleased for you 🎉
Did yoga, fed all the 'livestock' & hung the washing out. A different day at work, only had my regular pupil for a short while, but an up & down morning with one of the others, though wasn't as bad as I'd expected!
DH came home on the plane tonight 😃 so I collected him after I'd cooked tea. I'm so tired tonight, will be heading to bed shortly.
Grateful for DS2 getting the washing on when it rained, DH coming home, an email to say we qualify for the Government fuel payment which was a lovely surprise as I thought it was only for oil heated homes, but we have a multifuel stove on which we use wood & smokeless coalUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃
