Used car values remain inflated. In Sept 21 I was offered a brand new Lexus ES, list £36k with £4k discount making it £32k. It was for taking the stock vehicle and accepting delivery to meet the month-end targets.
Today, the same Dealership has a same model and trim car, May 2021 registered, 26k miles, advertised at £33k.
As for TESLA, maybe it is appropriate to wait for this £29k or £25k model?
Tesla says it will cut costs of next generation cars in half (thetelegraph.com)

EVs dominate list of used cars that lost the most money in February
The Jaguar I-Pace (21.8 per cent); Volkswagen ID.3 (17.2 per cent) and Tesla Model 3 (17.1 per cent) all lost huge chunks of their value in February.Northern Lincolnshire. 7.8 kWp system, (4.2 kw west facing panels , 3.6 kw east facing), Solis inverters, Solar IBoost water heater, Mitsubishi SRK35ZS-S and SRK20ZS-S Wall Mounted Inverter Heat Pumps, ex Nissan Leaf owner)1 -

There are 3 things predominantly driving this: 1) EVs were significantly higher priced than ICE cars when new and high energy prices mean that the low running cost appeal to offset the high purchase price simply isn't materialising, killing used demand. 2) Range anxiety and charging infrastructure whilst vastly improved, still isn't there yet. And 3) New adopters of EVs have similar buying habits to those buying the latest iPhone every year, always wanting the latest model jumping between PCP deals. This has created a glut of supply every time a new EV is launched. This most noticeably happened with Tesla as the Korean EVs entered at a lower price point with equivalent real world range. I personally think it will continue like this for at least the next 3-5 years until EV's volume overtakes ICE cars.
Point 3 sums up the pcp hamster wheel/merry-go-round perfectly.
A broadsheet paper today has an article that EV's might become the new cassette tape!!
We are watching and waiting...ev makes no sense whatsoever at the moment for us.
Remaining optimistic it will change in years to come....like heat pumps, lol.
I actually had a couple before. The charging infrastructure was fine, no issues even back then, and even at current rates they would be much cheaper to run. Much more convenient too - people who have never owned one don't appreciate just how good home charging is.
What made you have a couple before?
What did you replace them with, diesel or petrol and why so?
Sounds like you were very happy with the infrastructure with no issues but didn't keep them....company cars I guess?
Now I work from home so it's not worth replacing my old fossil fuel car, which I only drive a few times a week. I nearly bought another Leaf during the pandemic because it was cheap and I really don't like driving a manual fossil.
Friends I know who are waiting don't have access to cheap salary sacrifice or company cars. Some just can't afford a new EV that meets their needs, and some just don't want to take the depreciation hit on a new vehicle.0 -

Compared to prices when new, all of these are possibly still overpriced though.0 -
There's a private sale top-spec Zoe on speakEV for a little over £15k. That's getting towards genuinely affordable for a small, mid-range EV.0
