Shed refund

A garden shed is not exactly something you can pick up and hide in your pocket or a bag. They must have used some form of transport.
Have you asked your neighbours if they saw anything?
Have you reported it to the police?

Just thinking this through, is the onus on the OP to so so, though? The shed wasn't yet his property, having not been properly delivered. It was (perhaps) stolen from his property but wasn't it the retailer's property at the point of its disappearance, so the theft is from them and is theirs to report? That might be wrong, but it seems to me that if consumer law doesn't deem it properly delivered, criminal law might say it wasn't stolen from someone who was yet to receive it.macman said:Have you reported the theft and got a crime number?1 -
You don't have to be the victim of a crime to report it.Aylesbury_Duck said:

I'm my eyes I ordered a item which has clearly been stolen from my front garden.
I didn't take delivery or sign nothing they didn't contact me leave a card through the post nothing .
I haven't reported nothing to police because I haven't even seen it
How do I know the driver never took a picture then stole it himself.
I just want a refund really I don't think I have done anything wrong to not have one and surely shouldn't spend my time arguing with onbuy about getting one??0 -
Of course, but OP doesn't know a crime has taken place. It's the retailer that's told OP they they left their product on OP's property, from where it's gone missing.Undervalued said:

I have no idea whether I'm right or not, but it seems to me that if you invited me round to your house, I cycled round and left my bike on your front lawn from where it disappeared, it would be my incident to report rather than yours? You're right that you could report it, of course, but you've suffered no loss so why should you, other than to help me out?0 -
You shouldn't have to, but if you do nothing, nothing will happen.bradrock said:I'm my eyes I ordered a item which has clearly been stolen from my front garden.

That's a good point, but I don't think you need to be the actual victim to report it.Aylesbury_Duck said:

@bradrock have any of your neighbours got CCTV or camera door bells that might have picked up the delivery and then when it was stolen? You could then use the details to pass it on to the police. Not many people will be able to steal a shed easily!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)2 -
True, but what I would be wary of is that if OP reports it, it gives the retailer even more reason to wash their hands of it, because it would appear that OP was taking responsibility for sorting out the disappearance, theft or whatever. It's the retailer's problem to solve, their obligation to the OP is to refund or replace.pinkshoes said:

No unfortunately we don't have CCTV and neighbours don't either
I mean the package was 40kg and it was sat for 6 hours so not as hard to pinch as u might think0 -
If I was the OP I wouldn't be reporting it as stolen, as the OP is getting second hand information that it has been.
The OP should let the retailer know that they will cooperate with any police investigation if the retailer reports it a a crime.
But is cooperation is separate to the refund that is required due to non delivery of shed.
Let's Be Careful Out There2
