Paying for a new boiler - any grants or loans?

Our boiler has pretty much had it and a new one is going to cost around £3000.  I realise there are big companies like british gas that offer boilers and installation with 0% credit over 4 years, but I'd prefer to use a trusted local company and a boiler of my choice.  The problem is they have no payment scheme.

So are there any government grants or loan schemes for replacing a boiler (with another gas boiler, not one of those useless heat sink things)?  I'm not in receipt of any benefits or any of the usual "get things for free from the government" requirements, so just wondering if there are any "green" initiatives for replacing a dirty 25 year old boiler with a new A rated clean one in the name of climate change or whatever.

Failing that, can anyone recommend a low cost loan company?

In a similar position myself. Wanting a new boiler, but struggling to fund it. Yes, can get 0% credit from the likes of Eon or BG, but it will cost an extra £1K and I would only get a 3-5 year warranty (WB offer up to 10/12 years for the same boiler).
There are no grants/funding available for most of us. And even if you were claiming a qualifying benefit, there is a limited pot to fight over.
A personal loan from your bank will probably be cheaper than any "low cost" loan company.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

    where are you ?
In Scotland there are 0% loans available via Home Energy Scotland, possibly something similar is available where you live?

Check with your local council etc. if you maybe qualify for Eco4 or under Local Authority Flex

"Bank" loan or possibly add to mortgage?

Based in Herts.  Eco4 and Flex seem to be for people in receipt of benefits.

Thats 2 posts I have noticed where £3,000 is quoted for a new boiler where do those quotes come from

My son is a gas safe registered engineer who does boiler swaps every week  and it doesn't cost that much on average

A 24kw combi with 7 year warrantee cost about £1,000 plus fitting

So what does your son typically charge for labour?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Not as much as his friend who have been doing it for many years and has loads of contracts plus private customers, My son sometimes help him out if it's a difficult job or where there is a time limit as in a block of flats to provide 50 odd gas test certificates

I can't say how much he charges but I know some boilers he fits come in under £2,000

When Boiler fitting there are differences, the cheapest being like for like and straight swap

Others require pipework adjustments or different flue

Sometimes customers want them moved to the loft, others from the loft

British Gas - like them or hate them - we managed to get a new boiler all connected up including hot water tank done with the cost spread over the year/s added to the monthly bill.  It made things a lot easier and had a super efficient boiler heating system.
