I suspect the police have considered this dangerous driving as you were on the wrong side of the road, passing the queued cars yet traffic coming the other way was approaching you on that side of the road, or crossed a pedestrian crossing on the wrong side, or went around keep left signs.

Even if they were parked, it sounds like you have crossed over into the opposite carriageway and headed towards oncoming traffic. So I would have a guess the fact that they were queued or parked is a mute point.

You have clearly made a mistake but making a case it was a mistake isn't going to help you, that's really an admission you did what is alleged and perhaps weren't fully concentrating on the task in hand.

Also, your "mistake" could/would have put other road users in danger, that's never a good look.

As already stated by others, wait until you you here back.
Then perhaps take some legel advise.

If it is something that's a slam dunk, it might be better to admit, show remorse and you've learned a painful lesson and plead you need your license and can't afford a massive fine as times are hard.
You could perhaps support the last two with letters from work, pay slips etc.

It's always six months for summary only offences.
Unless the offence occurred in Scotland, where it is 12 months. The extension was introduced as an emergency measure at the beginning of the pandemic and has not been reversed.

Unless something happened beyond what you have said so far it is extremely unlikely  that Dangerous Driving will be prosecuted ...it is quite normal for the lesser offence of Careless Driving to be pursued.

That could result in the offer of an "educational course", or between 3-9 points.

All you can do is wait and see.

Vehicles cross over to the other lane quite often. In dangerous locations they will put solid white lines in the middle of the road, or sometimes white hatch markings.

That's right, vehicles do over take on the opposite side of the road all the time.

Dangerous driving is when your driving falls below minimum standards expected of a competent driver that could endanger yourself and others.

What makes the described maneuver dangerous is doing it in the path of oncomming traffic, ignoring traffic or road signs or driving aggressively.

That's careless driving, dangerous is far below.

Yes it is far below. And that's all. The legislation is silent on whether it must also endanger anybody.
