Hi
I have an galaxy smasung from about 6 years ago - it does not connect well to my ring and yale security cams as well as my kids phones which are the newer iPhones.
I was given a nearly new ihpone by one of our kids about 9 years or 7 cant recall its nphone 4, not 100% sure its that but it weighs a lot and looks good. However, cant use watsapp on it
I have been advised by my kids get brand new iphone 11 for my budget, Cheapest I am seeing is about 425 quid inc delivery - dont want white phone
I hardly use my mobile and screen size of 11 is good for my needs.
Is another android and option or iphone 11 and what is the best price you seen?
IMO, iphones connect more quickly and appear faster on simple apps, google etc and kids told me the apps/phone is updated for longer ie can be used on watsapp etc for more years
I am confused as not really a mobile perso
Btw - kids phones their Ring cctv etc alearts them almost immediately where my Samgung is hit and miss.
Thanks

Before you spend, remember the MSE Money Mantras. Ask yourself, do I need it? Can I afford it? If the answer is NO to any of those questions, DON’T buy it. (Quote from MSE 15/11/22)

Which will have the added bonus of not having to learn a new o/s & stuck within the apple network.
Given you have a Samsung already.

Many thanks, had a look and I am aware they are a lot cheaper but what I said in my OP stands, thanks again
Rightly or wrongly I am feeling that the iPhone will be quicker all round as per my OP. However, daving well over 200 quid seems appealing
What is the latest andriod and I think the iphone is 14.
What would you guys do. I hardly use the mobile as we use our landline much more clear as we pre=paid pack re calls.
it will be a payg mobile for faster alerts from ring/yale etc and goole internet etc
Thanks again

Why not look at the iPhone X (10) that is cheaper than the 11
Thanks
I was advised by a son that he has got the latest phone as he uses it a lot but his wife got iphone 11 about a year ago 64gb and it meets her needs and son feels it will be as quick for my needs as his phone re ring/yale apps alearlts and goolge maps - hower his screen is very big plus cost more than double but the iphone 11 64 gb over a year ago got deal for 420 I think.
They also said the software is updated for longer periods keeping the running of the phone in good order
They also told me it is a lagal requirement that all new mobiles come sim free, i was not aware of that as i've not really bought a phone of 8/9 yrs

In my experience they are much easier to use than androids.
Both the wife and I are using iPhone XR’s and are more than happy with them.
I can afford it easily but no one wants to spend around 420 for very light use when there are seriously good/relaible alertives there that save you 200 and the 200 could be used for a day out.
Thanks, appreciated.

I tend to buy one every 3 years because I like up to date things, my sim only contact is £6.55 unlimited calls and texts. 3GB data rolling month. There are cheaper tariffs around.
The iPhone is supported with critical software updates for life not just for Christmas.
Upgrades to new software are supported back to the iPhone 8 which was released in 2017. 6 years ago, Android brings a new os out every couple of years and it's not backward compatible I don't believe
The main reasons I go for Apple is the ease of use and the support network. I can go in any Apple Store (as long as I have made an appointment with the Genius Bar, which is easy to do) with any age iPhone and they will fix any problem as long as its not a hardware problem out of warranty
Thanks, what our kids said - appreciated
