Bank loan payment coming from joint account

Options
My partner and her ex still have an bank account together but he wont come back to uk from Spain to close the acount ( he`s non resident and been there too long and wouldn`t be allowed back in ).

He has just got a loan from the said bank which he is paying ( no problems so far ) but he`s used a address in the UK as his home address ( he`s not been back to UK in over 5 years )

Now the questions

1/ Will my partner get in trouble for his lying on loan ?

2/ Should she tell bank where x partner lives ?

    1) He could, in theory. But unlikely while the loan is being repaid.
    2) If she wants to. What would she want to achieve? To have the joint account closed due to him not being resident? That may or may not work, depending on the bank in question and their policies.

She needs to be taken off this account ASAP.

If he defaults then she'll be liable for any debt on that account

Hi, if its a joint account and sole signatories she has the authority to close it without him present.
If there is an overdraft on the account it significantly complicates matters (used or not).
Don't waste your time on here, your partner needs to go straight to the bank and discuss options to either be taken off the account or close it and leave her ex to deal with the repercussions.

If your partner does tell the bank where her ex has moved to, all the bank will likely do is put a gone away marker against his profile, they would not change the address based on information supplied by a third party (even if it is a joint account holder).

As others have said. The important thing here is to remove the financial association with her ex, by either closing the account, or getting her name taken off it. If there is no overdraft on the account, no insurances etc linked to it, and there is no sign of a joint account dispute, some banks will allow you to take yourself off a joint account without the other party being present, and in my opinion would be the more favourable option in this scenario.
