Attaching to the windscreen obstructs your vision especially for those people that stick them somewhere in the middle of the screen. How would attaching to an air vent work with a dashcam? When installed properly on a windscreen most cameras fit discreetly behind the rear view mirror which doesn't cause any obstruction to the view ahead.2

isopropyl alcohol to clean screen. Then at this time of year, gentle use of a hair dryer to warm the screen up a bit. Any hint of damp & they will fall off.
As others have said. 1 car 5 years & still stuck, other is 2 years now. Both stuck over the black dot section as well.Life in the slow lane0 -
I had this with my rear cam especially in the really hot weather last summer, I bought some of those pads that the OP got and have had no problems since,0

I had this problem with my previous dashcam and never solved it, but when it stopped working and I bought a new one it came with the 3M VHB pad that the OP bought and that has stuck resolutely to the windscreen without a hint of it coming loose. In fact, I'm unsure if it could be removed on purpose without a great deal of effort (it did come with a spare pad should the first one be destroyed during removal).
