When did you book the flights you now want to cancel/reschedule? Based on your timeline its likely to have been outside of the Covid related extra flexibility in which case you have booked a non-flexible flight and so a cancellation only gives a refund of taxes.

Given you say the reason for wanting to change is injury this is exactly what insurance is there to cover as its not the airlines fault you were injured so they have no liability and so your credit card would have no liability.

Currently, no option on the BA site to delay to April 2024.

Not sure what you're meaning by this - are you meaning there's no availability showing or just nothing convenient ?

As others have said/will say you're likely to be out of luck unless you have an unknown travel insurance policy linked to bank/CC etc that may offer some assistance

Otherwise, unfortunately, you're swallowing the loss less taxes

Most flight bookings are non-refundable.  Some will be allow date changes for a fee and fare difference.  There are fully flexible and refundable tickets available but they cost much more than the cheaper tickets.

During Covid-19 many airlines relaxed the "non refundable" and "non-changebale" conditions and allowed free date changes or refunds to vouchers as you experienced.  However as international travel returned to more normal patterns the airlines went back to standard conditions.

BA tickets are not on sale for April 2024 yet so you can't move to that date.  The other issue seems to be that even if they were on sale, they won't let you move to a flight more than 365 days from your original booking date.
