The value of the item which the courier collected and subsequently lost, a broken, non-working tv, might be £50.
A bit tough on the OP?

    The would be LG's problem.
OP paid for LG to collect, repair and return TV.
    Let's Be Careful Out There
  • Surely you just tell LG to look at the paperwork they have which told them at the time which TV they are collecting and repairing? I assume it doesn't just say 'LG 54" TV', becuase that would be odd.
  • I would look at escalating through LG.

It’s unlikely that they have no details of the TV you sent them for repair. Surely they asked for the model number before arranging the repair?
  • Probably a windup.

As I said... same happened with my Samsung going to Currys repair centre (twice)... declared lost, investigation underway and then without explanation an email to say it was at the repair centre and an hour or two later a second email saying the outcome (first time saying repaired and will be delivered next day, second time saying total loss and voucher will be issued)
  • I’ve got a funny feeling that the couriers have damaged the tv , they brought a proper lg 55” tv box but the only packing they put in it was 2 but if bubble wrap scrunched up one one the screen and one on the back . Didn’t seem much packing but in the end that’s up to lg

It was a retirement gift from my mother who has since died . I know that she bought it from a local retailer that went bust during covid

how am I supposed to prove anything , when I sent the tv I wasn’t asked for proof of purchase all they where worried about was my payment
I am astonished LG did not ask for the serial number which should have given them /you all the details needed
I imagine you don't have a record of it either which is a pity
