Co-operative funeralcare claiming I owe money

Got a letter recently from Co-operative claiming I still have a small sum that is owed to them (less than £100), however:
1) The itemised invoice they gave me was paid in full directly from my mum's bank account via the bank before her funeral.
2) The letter they sent doesn't say how or why this money is owed. I paid the invoice in full and there was nothing left off.
It just seems very random and disappointing considering I filled in a survey for them a couple of days ago that was very positive.
I feel as if legally they have no legs to stand on without evidencing how this money is owed, considering they'd already handed me the invoice and it was paid in full (over £5000).
With everything still going on (mum's affairs still not settled) this another worry I don't need.

Just ask them to explain the sum. If it's owed, easiest to simply pay it.
It may simply be an overlooked disbursement.2 -
Hello thank you for replying. What does disbursement mean?MorningcoffeeIV said:Just ask them to explain the sum. If it's owed, easiest to simply pay it.

Just confused because I'd have thought everything would've been included on the final invoice. I really don't like surprise bills and it's actually turned me off the Co-operative going forward. I honestly feel like everything should be upfront and transparent, especially where funerals are concerned because of how expensive they can be. I'm awaiting their response.0 -
Disbursements are things that the FD pays for, outside of their services - flowered, crem costs etc. They may have been missed, or the supplier late in invoicing.
They'll agree with you that everything should be upfront and transparent - but you can't legislate against errors.2 -
Thank you for explaining. I've taken another look at the invoice and can't see anything missing. The list is: Embalming, Flowers, Limos, Coffin, Funeral Service, Service Sheets, Church Fee and Re-opening of existing plot. That looks like everything to me, so I'm at a loss.MorningcoffeeIV said:Disbursements are things that the FD pays for, outside of their services - flowered, crem costs etc. They may have been missed, or the supplier late in invoicing.

did they do any newspaper announcements for you?1

Thank you for replying. Yes, they did and if I remember correctly they'd forgotten to do it so it was last minute. I'm guessing that's it then. Would've been cheaper if I'd done it myself in that case. I'll await their confirmation.Flugelhorn said:did they do any newspaper announcements for you?

it is usually cheaper if you do things yourself but I know our newspapers will only take death and funeral announcements from undertakers.AttractingMoreMoney said:

If I did it all again I think I would've sought cheaper ways of doing certain things without losing quality, but at the time my head was spinning and I just wanted everything sorted out. I'd looked at newspaper ads just prior to Co-operative doing it and I could've saved about £50. They didn't tell me how much they would charge for it though.comeandgo said:

Good point, when I did them I was able to do the advert myself but had to say who the undertaker was, presume they checked that the notice was genuinecomeandgo said:
