Single bank account -2nd cardholder

Hi folks.
Is it possible to have a single current account but have 2 cardholders in the same account with the account holders consent?
I know that a joint account may seem the most obvious option, but one of us has a perfect credit rating and the other is poor.
We do not want to create a financial associate just yet until the poor credit record is better, as we believe this will impact negatively on the good credit score.
Is it possible to have a 2nd cardholder without creating this link.
Currently banking with Nationwide.
Thanks.

Starling offer a connected debit card which might fit the bill: Connected card - Starling Bank
Barclays offer additional users for £3 per user per month: Authorised User | Additional cardholder and account supervisor | Barclays1 -
Apparently you can add another card holder. If the other person is not an existing Nationwide customer, a visit to a branch may be needed though (see the last page of the link).

It's almost at the bottom of this page:

Might be best to simply call the bank...0 -
Wouldn't it be easier to get a credit card with a second cardholder? This doesn't create any financial association.

I think that's just something their search engine is pulling through without context, unhelpfully. By all means give them a ring and find out - it's something often asked for and until Starling's offer (and more recently Barclays') there just wasn't such a thing unless the authorised user had PoA or similar.

What do you mean by 'everyday banking' that needs a debit card?0
