MSE News: Tesco Mobile to charge customers for data roaming in Europe from May

I looked at my Tesco Mobile account today (I'm out of contract) and spotted this just as I was about to upgrade. If I understand this correctly then roaming charges can be avoided indefinitely if you leave the account as is and meet the criteria. Can anyone confirm? Tesco do not make this obvious.
No EU roaming fees until 2025
If you’re a pay monthly customer who joined or upgraded on or after 16 June 2022, until 2025, you can continue to use your UK allowances for free in 48 destinations in the EU and beyond. We’ll let you know at least 30 days before we make any changes.
If you’re a pay monthly customer (in or out of contract) who joined or upgraded before 16 June 2022, you won’t be affected by any future roaming fee changes, until you choose to upgrade or change your contract.

I switched last year from Vodafone to ID mobile, not particularly because of roaming, but it is free in a lot of countries as well as it being genarally rather a lot cheaper.0

I have a very old contract with Tesco Mobile. I have no intention of upgrading despite being nagged constantly by Tesco. Looks like old contracts have free EU roaming well into the future0
