OH wants a wireless video doorbell. At the moment we have a Tapo camera, and Nest for our heating. Don't want to be adding loads more apps if we can integrate with some of what we already have. We don't have Alexa or anything like that with no intention to add.

What would you recommend to look at or avoid?

We bought a Byron from Screwfix (or Toolstation?) Its wireless and comprises the bell push and a small unit about the size of a tumbler which acts as the bell which can be positioned wherever. No video facility although I believe the company did those.
Happy with the look of the product and it does what it’s supposed to

I've found some references to a Tapo/Kasa doorbell but can't seem to find anybody in the UK selling them.

We have a Ring doorbell (3rd generation). It's not cheap - currently costs approx  £190 (with chime) but it works flawlessly for us with a single app on your phone. Easy to set up and we took it with us when we moved house recently, again no problems removing and re-installing.

2nd generation can be purchased for about £120 - motion detection and wifi connections are not so good with that version (I'm told).

4th generation is also available - don't know anything about that one!

I have a Ring doorbell, but I bought it on an Amazon prime promo day - it was £17.50 in a bundle with an Echo Dot for £17.50.

Mine is one where you wire it in place of an existing doorbell button, and it takes power from the existing doorbell transformer.  (I think they call that "Ring Wired", even though the video signal is still wireless).

I'm quite happy with it, although the downside of Ring is that you have to pay a subscription to keep recordings (otherwise you just get realtime video/callers etc.)

And that's the main decision point in choosing one - whether you want video, and if you do, whether you want recording.

Since we're on the topic of Ring, I bought a Ring wireless doorbell about 3/4 years ago, and have had a decent experience with it overall.

My main gripe with Ring is that the battery life didn't last as long as estimated. The battery is estimated to last between 6 to 12 months. However, in my case, it only lasted 3/4 months.

This could have been because of the motion sensor though, as I found it was too sensitive, even on the lowest setting. So, I ended up getting several notifications throughout the day whenever someone drives past or walks by.

    So, your mileage may vary.

Other than that, the other features work great.

I think we're looking for something that's battery operated as we've just had a new porch and front door and there's no existing wiring for a doorbell.

    Not keen on paying subscriptions.

Tapo have stopped doing that doorbell.
Their website says that a new one is coming soon.... Tapo D230S1 | Tapo Smart Battery Video Doorbell | TP-Link United Kingdom
OP may be better off looking at the Nest doorbells.
