Car Hire abroad - do I need additional cover AND CDW insurance?

Hi all
I'm looking to hire a car in Corfu, Greece, in July. I've found the company/car I want to book, and the company - Discovercars.com, offer an additional protection package for around £5 a day which covers repairs etc; but they're not exactly clear on what exactly this means. If this includes CDW excess cover, I would be happy to pay £5 a day to the hire company (for convenience). But I'm not sure if it actually does include CDW excess cover. 
Usually when I hire a car, I ignore this additional protection, and book Collision damage waiver excess insurance through a separate company. However, I'm not sure whether the company's policy actually covers the CDW excess; it's really unclear! 
Can anyone help please?

You aren't paying £5 a day to the hire company; you would be paying £5.58 per day to Discovercars for a car hire excess insurance policy.
