The problem with drilling from the outside is that it is vertically impossible to tell where it will emerge on the inside.

I don’t really think you cam blame OR for the rendering breaking away like it did, as it does not sound like it was a strong bund to the wall.

What draws you to that conclusion? They probably used an SDS drill, it'll blow the face on an engineering brick, so are they not strong?
  • Hi, It’s not impossible to identify where the drill will emerge inside if measurements are taken from a suitable feature that corresponds both inside and outside the house. So in my case the entry point was below a window. He just needed to measure down from the window ledge outside and the sill inside and add a safety margin and then drill from outside.

For repairs I'd use Toupret exterior filler (Amazon,Screwfix). Make a mixture like clay consistency. Sand it about 8 hours after filling it while it's easy to sand. Leave 24 hours then paint.

If it's a bagged finish then damp sponge over it after an hour rather than sanding.

That may be true , but doesn’t change the fact that the policy is to drill from the inside
  • Due to have this done next week, slightly concerned now.

It has been mentioned the cable could either be run under our new path! Or done overhead.
Hopefully it can be done overhead, won’t be too impressed if my new path has to be dug up, think I am in my rights to not have the work done on the day if I don’t like in what is presented to me?

How big, wide is your path, is there garden either side ?

If it's accessible a mole could feed the cable under the path instead of digging up

Most important to be there when openreach are
  • Path goes from front gate to the back gate, fairly long and around 2 foot wide.

where the fibre box is going there is only grass on the one side. I will definitely be there when they come.
