I am trying to switch from sim only to pay monthly. This is with vodafone. I want to pay off my sim only deal and take out a contract with a handset and keep my number. They say this cant be done. Why would this be/ is there a way around it? thank you

Your options are likely to be port out via a PAYG SIM and port in again, or simply buy the handset outright yourself which would avoid any need to "pay off" the sim-only as you stay on it. Which handset are you after?

I'm on a SIM-only Vodafone deal and they offer me upgrades to a new phone/plan weekly. Not sure why the same deal wouldn't be available to anyone else. How long is left on your current contract?

18 months. Its only £18 per month. I can get the iphone 14 pro with 150gb for £49 per month with vodafone seems a good deal

Is the problem that you are failing the credit checks to finance a £1400 phone deal rather than any technical problems to do with swapping contracts?

What exactly are they saying they can't do?
If you have 18 months left on your contract they may not be willing to switch you onto a new customer offer? I would guess if you were in the last month of your contract it would be different. They might be happy for you to take out a second contract, or you could port your number to another network but you would have to pay off your contract termination fees.
