RM Specail Delivery not delivered?

I sold some tickets (less than face value so not ripping anyone off ;) ) on ebay over the weekend, posted yesterday via special delivery next day which is 'supposed' to be guaranteed by 1pm - anyhow buyer not recieved them today and checked status on RM website it says

"We have received your item and expect to deliver it before the guaranteed time on 19/12/07."

Can i claim for a refund if delivered a day later than guaranteed? As buyer not particulary happy about having to wait in for another day?

Thanks

  • Yes, unless either your buyer is one of the few remote postcode areas excluded from the guarantee, or unless you posted late in the day and missed the PO's deadline (in which case that should be specified). If they fail to meet their 1pm next working day target you can claim a refund of the postage price.

Our cut off time is 12.30, any thing after is guaranteed for the day after that ..... what did the PO say when you posted it?

If it is delivered after 1pm you can claim postage. If it's next day or later £5 extra. I have had so many things delivered late on SD that , (especially for time sensitive items) it is worth taking consequential insurance. Only a few pence more but you can claim for loss of use.
There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.

Have you ever tried claiming for consequential loss?

We needed signed statements & proof that a part sent for our Business vehicle was losing us money.

I've had 2 special delivery items delayed now. one was meant to be delivered 1pm today but was late and one was meant to be delivered yesterday but was delivered today instead.

custardy - can I claim the SD postage back over the phone? I was told I could and to phone back after item delivered. then when I phoned back I was told I had to send the form in. I insisted that I was told I could do it over the phone, and also I have done it over the phone before but then I was told they needed to see the form to see how much postage I paid and what the guaranteed delivery date was.

i don't want to send the form in if its not necessary as i like to keep it as proof of delivery for at least 6 months. if i have to send it in for a claim i will no longer have the proof should a it be needed for a paypal chargeback/non delivery dispute etc

cant help you on claim but i think there is an online option.

there are problems with SD yesterday/today.
im informed plane issues(believable) but have a feeling its also down to the sheer number of SD items as well.
maybe they are laying on more planes etc? we easily have 4x the no than a usual amount which would be in excess of 1000 SD items for delivery!!
thats a lot coupled with everything else.

not helped by a 'fleet' of clapped out 7 year old delivery vans that dont start in the cold

I can confirm failed special deliveries too. Sent two items off yesterday SD and neither has arrived. I will be putting in a claim.
  • Is it likely for special delivery items will arrive within the guaranteed time if sent today?

just to update, i phoned royal mail again and submitted my 2 claims for delayed special delivery items over the phone without having to send the SD form or a claim form in.
