Sounds like a bit of a shabby greasy spoon to me. I'd have asked why they charged me a different price to the menu, told them I wasn't going to pay any more than was on the menu and gone. When I arrived home I'd have logged on to social media to see if they were on there and complained like billy-o if they were.

I wouldn't have waited thirty minutes for a drink though, I'd have been off - there are more greasy spoons than that one.

I don't think it's worth bothering trying to complain anywhere else, other than to name and shame. Lesson learned.

If the menu said £2.50 and the board said £2.75 then given the increased costs nowadays then clearly the £2.75 was correct.

If they charged you £2.80 then either just ignore it as it's only 5p or query it.

If it says food served all day and they're serving cake, then that's food.

Hot chocolate and cake sounds perfect!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

You should have queried the different prices displayed for the same item.  There are no valid grounds for complaint about a sign saying 'Food served all day'.  Cake is food.  If they said 'Hot meals served all day' that would be different.  It's not their fault you put an inaccurate interpretation on their sign.

Some battles are not worth fighting especially for 10 pence.

    Would that be the 90p midweek, £1.40 Saturday . . . . . or dependent what’s on the board 😏

Go onto Google Maps or Tripadvisor and leave a bad review if the service was that bad.

But the overcharging should have been sorted out at the time, ask for a manager and state you want to pay the price displayed.

They did serve food all day though, lunch service ending at 2pm isn't unusual.

Also, because this is a money saving site, on the next day trip take a Thermos (others are available)full of nice hot chocolate drink and a packed lunch (cakes, sandwiches etc.).
Obviously of sufficient quantity for everyone on the trip.
