Measuring oil deliveries

A stick is never going to an accurate measuring device - but it's a perfectly acceptable way to give you a "near-enough" indication as to when you need to be ordering more.I agree that in my experience, the printout usually shows a start and end meter reading, together with the quantity delivered. But you can take comfort in the fact that all tankers are precisely calibrated, and will be checked periodically by Trading Standards. In just the same way that your local petrol forecourt is. When you fill your car up, do you measure the actual amount delivered, or just take it on trust that the pump shows the correct amount and charges you accordingly?I'm not saying that it's impossible for a mistake to happen, or for a meter to develop a fault. But the chances or that happening are exceedingly remote, and you can be sure that Trading Standards would be all over any company who allowed that to happen - either deliberately or by accident.0

I believe Trading Standards no longer universally check the calibration on the tankers. They used to, but it's now dependant on which council the supplier falls within.
Some do and some don't.....0
