New tumble drier - is this condensation normal?

Hello Everone

We have just bought a new Heat pump condensing tumble drier (Beko).  This is the first time I have had a tumble drier that didnt have a hose to poke out the window so its all a bit new to me.  We are sadly getting a fair bit of condensation every time we use our dryer and having to run our dehumidifier for the first part of the drying cycle.

Is this normal.. i dont know if its a fault or just how it is with this sort of dryer?

I cant move the dryer to a different room (its in the conservatory but we have a frost protection radiator out there) as this was done to give me better wheelchair access in the house (as well as stop heat loss opening window every time we wanted to dry clothes) so no space elsewhere.

We get none with our heat pump AEG dryer.

What is the model number of the dryer?

Is the dryer in an open space or confined in any way?

what sort of temperature range do you get in the conservatory?

No, it's not normal. Have you emptied the condensate tank? Cleaned the filter?

    Hi OP

We had these driers for as long as i can recall and use them week in and out hot and cold, never a bit of condensation

However, a family member had a small conservatory-type extension to their utility room and in winter they get what you get. IMO, nothing wrong with th drier but the sold sources, and glass steam up as the outside is very cold and the inside is warmer causing condensations

    Thnaks
  • Op, we had a Beko from 2012 to 2021 and never had this issue. Have you removed all the packaging from the machine?

    Thanks everyone.

I have a Beko washer and dishwasher and they've been great so stick with a brand.

Yes we have emptied water tank, 'fluff filter'  this machine has a light to remind us but we check anyway.

The dryer sits on the counter top. not boxed in.  We had to lit it up so that wheelchairs can be stored underneath

Model DTLP71151W from AO.com if that makes a difference. The delivery team unboxed it for us so we just had to take something out the drum.

Temperature in the conservatory.. i no longer have a minimum / maximum thermometer will work on getting a new one.. but we have the oil radiator set to frost protection and dehumidifier runs in there when we notice an issue.  The tumble drier runs during the day usually when we've opened the connecting door to the lounge.

I did wonder if it was the conservatory being cold.. but we chose a machine that worked at the lower temperatures we thought reading the info.

I am wondering if its also linked to the very wet weather.. but i hadn't expected the windows and roof to mist up each time we used it..

  • Ah then it may just be the air in the conservatory

Are you opening the window? You always need to ventilate when using a tumble dryer as they produce heat and if the conservatory is cold you will get condensation.

....they produce heat and if the conservatory is cold you will get condensation.

Heating air on its own cannot cause condensation.
Possibly, it can facilitate moisture moving from some other place(s) to the windows.

Looking at the manual it gives a temperature range of 5 to 35 degrees, so you should be ok with the heating you mention.

We have a very small conservatory circa 3’ x 6’ (more an enclosed porch in my opinion) with a washing machine being stored in half the space. This has a lot of condensation as it is trapped between the warmth of the house and the cold of the outdoors.
