Abandoning Credit Card debt, consequences?

Options
My wife has run away from the family home to start a new life some months ago, she had several credit accounts only 1 credit card that Im aware of that has a balance of 4k.
This was a sole credit card, basically I knew of the card but not the debt and I paid some 300 off the balance when I discovered a statement that was hidden from me.
Since she abandoned the family home I have been returning mail to sender and writing the likely address she was staying at for their reference on the envelope.
I can see there are more and more letters arriving related to these debts and I continue to RTS, can anyone advise what if anything further I should be doing?

Debt-free wannabe  board is a better place for this question - they know more about this.

Surely if the debts are solely in the OP's wife's name then there's nothing for the OP to do?  The creditors can chase the wife, but not the OP.

If you are financially associated on your credit reports any non payment will impact your record as well.

The creditors will chase the wife at the address they have. Regulars at DFW board know better how to deal with debt collectors and minimise the nuisance they can cause.

Do you still have any joint financial products like a mortgage?

Check your own credit files to see if she's linked to you in their records - and if you no longer have any joint accounts - complete the process they outline to disassociate yourself with her financially.

Otherwise as mentioned, her negative activity could potentially affect your own future attempts to obtain credit.

And as others have said - all existing paperwork soley in her name - keep returning to sender.

Unfortunately we have a joint mortgage and a joint current account together, we have been financially linked for 20 years under mortgages.
I can ditch the Current account but not the mortgage currently.
Am concerned about the credit impact

Surely you would need to start legal proceeding to sort out the joint mortgage / property you own together as that could be the bigger thing to worry about right now

Have you discussed (or will they discuss) the options in terms of the mortgage?

No, we have a home unsaleable until May 24. I tried to get her to sign to remortgage on a 2 yr fixed in August before she fled, she refused, the 5yr fixed ran out and I'm not stuck on the Variable going through the roof (40% monthly payment increase so far).
Spoken to Halifax and was told I can do nothing without joint signatures.
How much equity would be written off during a repossession?
