So, a quick update, and thinking of wrapping this one up asap:

As mentioned above, defence was submitted to both [email protected] and DCBLegal, i did get a confirmation email from DCBLegal, but not from the county court. Email was sent on the 06/02/23 @ 13:10. On thursday the 16/02/23, got a letter through the post from the county court, with the following message:

    "to the defendant
You have not replied to the claim form
It is therefore ordered that you must pay the claimant £228.92 for debt [and interest to date of judgement] and £110 for costs [less £0 which you have already paid]
you must pay the claimant a total of £338.92 forthwith."

I've just spoken with the county court, and i could get the judgement to be set aside, but would cost me £275 (for their mistake). Thanks!

I'm thinking at this point, cough the money and be done with this, or it could get even more expensive.

    Any thoughts?

Don't you have confirmation of having sent the email?
I mean an item in your email 'sent' folder showing exactly what was sent and when.

Whilst on the phone with county court, i did ask what their email address is, for submission of defence, and they confirmed, [email protected] is the correct email address. So i see no reason why they're telling me i did not respond.

Then you do what @jag_run did and email a formal complaint and get that order set aside (fee free) due to court error.  You can also point out that DCBLegal acknowledged the defence and saw it had gone (in the same email) to the CCBC too...so with their first duty being to the court (not their client) why did DCBLegal then apply to enter judgment?

@Sk7diver, you will need this bit of header info from the message in your "sent" folder as your "proof of posting".

Did you send your defence to both DCB Legal and the CCBC in the same message with either both as the recipient or either one as a CC?

@Coupon-mad, you seem to be implying, DCBlegal would have applied to enter judgement after receiving my defence, or would this have been judged automatically, without the need for DCBlegal to conscious and intentionally enter judgement?

Sorry if this sounds dumb, as i'm way out of my depth here.

They had to apply for default judgment and yes, they did so despite knowing you'd defended. This is wholly unreasonable conduct and you should call it out.

Are you sure there wasn't a typo in the CCBC email address?
