Leak 1 litre per hour

Well you need to make access to the tank, better before any issues rather than later.Green_hopeful said:Thanks for all the comments. We are not randomly guessing. We first checked the cisterns, perhaps the most common cause of lost water. We have checked if it’s internal or external. We have checked any taps or showers. We have checked all the ceilings to make sure it isn’t leaking upstairs. We have rooms in the loft and the tank in the roof is not accessible. I think they built the rooms around it. There is a tiny hatch which I have lifted to listen for dripping. I have listened generally when the house is empty and the heating is off. It does appear to be increasing so I guess we will find out quite soon but will keep looking for it.

Thanks but the tank takes up the whole loft area because we have rooms in the loft. I can get through the hatch but there is nowhere to go as the tank takes up all the area. That loft is only very small probably 1 metre high by about 1 metre long with a large chimney cutting it off from the rest of the loft. I know all our lofts really well having removed and relaid all the insulation when we moved in.plumb1_2 said:

Realise this is now a very old thread but did you eventually find the problem?0

Nope it just stopped. I suspect pressure building up in a shower head and occasionally discharging. I sometimes notice the shower trays are wet when no one has used them. I didn’t claim the leakage allowance because it wasn’t very much and our water company will normally only let you do it once. I want to save it in case of a big leak.0
