    Yet another update

    ROYAL MAIL INTERNATIONAL EXPORT SERVICES

We continue to make progress in exporting an increasing number of items to a growing number of international destinations, using alternative solutions and systems not affected by the recent cyber incident.

Our focus has been on despatching the export parcels and letters which were in our network before the cyber incident. We have also been successfully despatching standard export letters since reinstating service on 18 January and International Tracked & Signed and International Signed letters and parcels since 26 January.

As a result of this progress and the further growing capability of our alternative export solutions, we will today, Monday 30 January, resume our International Tracked services to all destinations for business customers and consumers buying postage through our online shipping systems. This includes letter, large letter and parcel formats of these services. Online shipping systems are now enabled for business account customers to select these services, print labels and send items. and will be available from 1900hrs today for consumers who buy postage online.

We continue to ask customers not to submit any untracked export parcels into our network for the time being.

At this time, we are still unable to process new Royal Mail parcels purchased through Post Office branches. Customers can still access the following export services through Post Office branches:
    •    Sending export parcels through Parcelforce Worldwide
    •    Dropping off items they have labelled online, and
    •    Purchasing our International standard and economy letter format service.

So after reading this, and having an outstanding parcel to the USA to be sent, i bought International Tracked postage online and took it down to my PO today to drop it off, and the clerk says they couldny accept it! She just held up a print off about the cyber incident (english isnt her first language) even though i said they were supposed to be accepting International Tracked if its online postage. Am I missing something?

Am out of date print out?

Possibly. I would have thought as a PO they would be informed by head office or some such, not them having to check something every so often!
Most Post Offices are franchises so..
  • Anyway, cacelled and re-bought a new label  with collection, Postie got it yesterday and all is well ... except the tracking where ebay state the expected del date is 18th March! Dunno what they based that on, i know in the bulletins RM said the reinstated services would expereince slight delays but well ...

Mine where the tracking is stuck in Belgium Customs since the day before the Great Ransomware Attack (Jan 10th), still has not moved.

Asked Belgian Post to look into it. She sent their customs a mail a week ago and gave me an Incident Number. She replied today to say Customs have not replied and so she will remind them!

Losing hope! If not delivered by end of February, I am inclined to put in a claim with Royal Mail for the 41 pounds. (Mind you, I read an article which said some customers are dismayed to have received their compensation as books of stamps!)

    Newest update

Royal Mail International Export services* have now been reinstated to all destinations for purchase online, through shipping solutions and over the counter at Post Office branches.

Delivery of International items may take slightly longer than usual. Customers using International Tracked / International Tracked and Signed services may notice different tracking information as items leave the UK. We are seeing some delays to some Tracking events in a small number of destinations. As we continue to work with our partners to resolve this, if you cannot see tracking information for your items then it is likely to be available on the overseas’ Posts own tracking websites.

Customers sending items requiring a customs declaration (such as goods or gifts) internationally are asked to purchase postage online, through shipping solutions or over the counter at Post Office branches rather than use Postage Stamps or Meters.

Import operations continue to perform a full service with some minor delays. Domestic services remain unaffected.

We would like to apologise to impacted customers for the disruption this incident is causing.

*with the exception of a small number of International Untracked services for Business Contract customers where alternative services are available.

My one that was mailed to Belgium, the day before the cyber incident on Jan 4th.

I submitted a complaint to Belgian Post on February 2nd with photos attached of what was in it.

14th February it said on their tracker.... No extra costs.

23rd February it said ...... Import Procedure Completed.

So I am quite excited now, as maybe my friend will eventually get it.

(Although... have they found the actual parcel, I wonder? They could have done the above using only my photos??)

I was so upset, because I went to a lot of trouble to find a present for my friend's 60th birthday. I had also found a lovely card, where the "60" was really small. (Friend acknowledging she is 60, but not 100% thrilled about it.)

It is also the not knowing what happened to it that causes a nuisance.

So yes, both of us are incredibly happy today.

(The Belgian Post Complaint Form was a great help. You attach a copy of your postal receipt and also receipts and photos of what is in the package. This seemed to elevate the Customs and Import Process. The Complaint area is within the tracking area and we log it as the Sender.)
