Parking eye - Judgment for Claimant (in default) - advice please

Hi all,
I think I know what to expect here and I’m sure you have been asked this over again Etc, but just thought you could help…
Last summer i drove around a parking eye car park by the old derelict lido at Margate outskirts to show my son the old site.
Thought it was derelict tbh.
I got a letter soon after saying I’d been there 5 minutes and owed them the fine as I didn’t pay to park.
laughed it off as I have in the past and ignored the letters from these criminals that came flowing in…
The court letter came last and I thought it still looked bogus and threw it away…
Now just received a judgement for Claimant letter ( still looks a bit dodge) but looking briefly at the threads on here I see that this is probably for real?
They (court? Doesn’t look like a stamp to me) want £207 paid to PA.
Is this for real ?
I’m guessing things have changed and these crooks are now allowed to get away with this?
More fool me for laughing it off as I have in the past if this is the case.
Any advice would be gratefully received and thank you for your time in advance.

Yes it's real and throwing away a court claim was your big mistake.  You could have defended it and won, but not now.

Like all traders and individuals, parking firms have always been able to sue. Nothing has changed except they decided to become litigious after clamping was banned, in 2012.

The old advice to ignore private parking tickets was on Watchdog over a decade ago!  Well out of date.  Since then, ParkingEye took one chap to the Supreme Court and that was over seven years ago

They file tens of thousands of claims every year.

You must pay ParkingEye in full because you literally binned your right to defend.

But please don't disappear just yet.

Do you wanna get revenge, and help shape the new incoming law to stop this happening to you or others again?

A final Public Consultation is coming.

We need you; motorists need you to help us make a difference forever.  What a waste of your time this was, and why should there be such a litigation culture in parking?

Together, we can stop the rotten parking industry from riding roughshod over the new statutory Code and the charge level caps, and otherwise bullying all motorists forever, using the regulation to gain kudos and status.

If you are not likely to pop back here every week to check, please set up email alerts for this forum and bookmark this thread (below) as we intend that one of us posts on it when they Government opens the Consultation:

    Read the latest posts there.

The PPC money-grabbers have blocked the new Code by filing for Judicial Reviews.  Stopped the declared and much welcomed parking code from February 2022, which stated that parking levels would start at £50.

    It's on hold.

Motorists urgently need it reinstated and the ban on false 'DRA fees' confirmed, to stop the rot.  At least in your case ParkingEye are the one firm who DON'T yet add the fake £70 (if you'd ignored a claim from any other PPC it would have been close to £300 to pay).

ParkingEye would absolutely love it if the Govt make the huge error of allowing the unjustified enrichment of 'DRA admin fees' to be added under the new statutory Code.  PE have held off adding them but would make tens of millions more out of people, if the false add-on is endorsed by statute.

This year will be your chance to make a difference, plus any other drivers you know (family, friends) who are also fed up to the back teeth with the greedy and unscrupulous parking industry and the stranglehold they have on people.

We need high numbers of real victims to make a point of responding to this final Consultation.
