Unlikely. You probably signed up for them to apply for a tax refund.
  • You're better off asking in the PPI section:

Confirm in your post how you originally signed up to this company eg replied to an advert on Facebook, found them via a search engine etc as they couldn't act without your authority which can be as simple as ticking a box.

    Transcript of video above:

Scammers will jump on any opportunity to rinse you of your hard-earned cash. They will look at what people are claiming for in the media at the moment. They will look at popular government schemes like the Energy Bill Support Scheme. They will look at medical issues that are going on and they will touch that scam to that as well, like we saw in Covid-19.

In this case, this could be a legitimate claims management company or it could be a scammer. I can't tell you without looking more into it. However, I would warn that with a lot of these things you can claim yourself and you don't need the involvement from a claims management company at all.

You might hear from somebody, though, saying that they've received your tax rebate on your behalf through HMRC. Straight away I would report it to HMRC and make sure that they definitely haven't got your details, that HMRC are aware of the scam, and don't respond to the communication.

I’m afraid to say yes this company is a scam. They have not forwarded my £2k tax refund money and have changed their phone number.
