I have seen that myself, the difficult thing is not reacting(selling) to news and YouTubers talking crashes, they know no more than the rest of us.
I very much doubt they know more than the rest of us, when it comes to predicting market movements.0 -

Last night I opened an iweb account with a view to put some money in an index tracker. I was a bit taken aback by the amount of options available.

I've read the first 3 books mentioned in this thread & recommend them also. At the very least they gave me enough confidence to at least have a go myself rather than paying someone to do it for me.1

Even then it sometimes has a non intuitive naming convention and often it's easier to use Google with IWeb + fund/ETF name1

That's the nature of global equity index trackers, it goes with the territory. Most indexes are cap weighted and will be dominated by US companies. Of those some of the largest are techYou could look at active funds or something like the Vanguard Lifestrategy which broadly exchanges US for UK1

I'll take a look at Lifestrategy, thanks. Ofcourse I realise the goal is long term investing and I could be overthinking.
