I am fully comp but I have told them not to proceed unless they can claim from the 3rd party. They are fine with that.

I won’t be claiming on my own insurance. It will be cheaper to pay to get it fixed.

Just waiting to see if the 3rd party admits liability. If not I can’t do anything without finding cctv or a witness.
    Your comments are contradictory there

Either, you claim off of your insurance and they counterclaim off of the third party or you claim directly from the third party insurers in which case your insurer plays no part in the process at all.

You can decide to postpone claiming from your insurance to ensure the TP insurer has accepted liability but this creates two potential challenges 1) most insurers will not put much effort into establishing liability until the claim has been made against the policy... third party claims technicians are expensive resources that you dont want to be burning up their time or legal fees if a claim may never happen and 2) First party and third party aspects of claims tend to be dealt with by different departments and so there is unlikely to be any automatic trigger to get your car in for repair if liability is accepted.

Back in my claims days I mainly dealt with disputed liability (either where it was disputed or where it was likely to be). If we had a reasonable prospects on a claim it would be a simple case of trying to phone the TP Insurer, send a letter if you couldnt get through. If they admitted liability off the bat then I just mark the fact in the comments on the file, reassign the file to someone who deals with non-fault claims and diary on for 6 months for the repair invoices from the first party team. If that 6 month diary comes up before the invoices appear then they check if a garage has been instructed and when... if one hasnt the claim is closed as withdrawn and if it has then diary on another few months.
