Op, 2 issues from me. Firstly they didn’t quote you properly in the first place, and secondly you should have refused the work if you weren’t happy with the price.

That said, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with paying them next Friday when you get paid. Invoices will have a recommended timing for payment, 7 days is quite normal.
