Adding temporary disabled assistance to a bathroom.

Hi OP
Getting in and out of a bath is close to getting in/out of bed of similar height but getting off the bottom of the bath is most diff for anyone that is even slightly frail or accident
Consider a couple of suction rails to suit/aid transfers and consider an extra wide bath/shower board - shower board is best as it has slats and water drips back into bath - bro will sit at top of bath and strip wash and can have some water in bath for feet etc
you can get/buy rent various type of bath lifts
The trick is not to fall down getting in/out of bath
shower boards/bath lifts sit on aide and swing, assist legs in and out of bath
Possibly Google the above items on youtube to see how they are used before you buy etc
Thanks1 -
Btw - if wall not suitable for suction grab rails - consider those that fit, clamp fit side of bath
NB - you can also get a shower board with a built in handle
Good luck1 -

ln a similar situation many years ago I found the above (or similar) to be excellent
Thanks. I'd just ordered one of these, and then told him - he's adamant all he needs is one grab rail 'just to steady himself' - he doesn't need it for 'lfit'. So cancelled, and a pair of hand grab rails ordered in its place... Sigh

I wouldn’t expecting anyone to be trying to get in or out of a bath if they’ve got a bloody great cast on their leg. Aside from the sheer impracticality of it, the chances of it getting sodden are quite high I would’ve thought. It’s not the same as shoving a bag on something in the shower. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.3 -

Hopefully you'll know the kind of thingy I'm thinking of, I've momentarily forgotten what it is called.Once I work out what the heck you are talki... Ah! That?!Yes, it was a bike that struck him as a pedestrian - I haven't had the details yet, but from his self-flagellation, I suspect he may have been the one at fault.1

Thanks all - that's just brilliantBiker (not my bro) was initially concussed, but is seemingly ok - thank t'lawd.Cast has been removed as there are some fleshy wounds that need tending to and redressing, and he has a rod and screws in his leg. He can bend his knee - that's a biggie. Seems he's quite capable of hobbling - one he's had a 'dose'.Bathing will be fun. Bath is double-ended type with a flat tile surround - not sure if that helps or hinders. It does have a shower mixer, so suspect it'll be a sit-down job. Actual shower cubicle is small, tho' - 760mm square - and I was just waiting for last sprog to p'off back to uni so I could replace it with a larger one - I don't see bro fitting inside the current one, certainly. But it'll take me three months to do the job (no idea why - every job takes 3 months).0

Hi
You wouldn't just as you stated for various as you won't be aware of the types of help I'm aware of.. You don't know if the knee is still flexible and my ideas were for people that can assist their own leg/s in or be helped by another via sideways transfers. One can cover leg/cast with plastic protectors to stop it from getting "sodden"!
In a shower? All depends on what the clear access width is, the height of the step and the turning spaces inside the shower so its not as simple as you make it out and you also have to be aware the size and ability or lack of it of the person. If someone falls in an enclosed space like a shower, lot can go wrong.
You may have failed to note but I did advise the OP to check Youtube vids re use of these items.
At times strip wash with or without help also needs to be considered in order to maintain safety and hygiene.
Thanks

My aged MiL needed one of these and it was really helpful when I was recovering from a knee replacement.
