Understanding a 'good deal' from BT

Bear in mind too that it will be the price before any discounts that increases by this amount. So for me that's likely to mean a more than 18% increase in what I'm actually paying.matelodave said:The BT price increase is CPI + 3.9%. It's based on January's CPI which hasn't been released yet, but I'm guessing that it will be around 10% making the increase around 13.9%. I'd love to be proved wrong.
Last year (2022) the April price increase was 5.4% CPI plus 3.9 = 9.3%Stompa0 -
This is exactly the offer i took which just started a few days ago. My deal with them was up at the end of November and i was scouring their site and others for deals from early November onwards. Must have phoned them 3 times from then till i went for it and booked in mid December. I've become pretty experienced over the years at bartering with them but it became apparent they would not budge below £29.99 per month for this service. We kept the landline at £2 on PAYG but we'll probably get rid of it next time after we've trained the couple of people that still phone us on it. BT had already given us a new phone free eariler in the year when the cable was laid for FTTP and we were put on to Digital Voice.Maz1963 said:Thank you, all that info really helps. I've just come off the phone from BT and this is what they have offered:-
------------------------------
Full Fibre 100
This package includes:
Stay Fast Guarantee
Unlimited monthly broadband usage
UK and Ireland call centres - you will always speak to one of our team based in the UK & Ireland when you call us
All ETCs will be personalised including any discounts
Monthly prices and one off payments:
29.99 a month, then 37.99 from month 25
0 activation
Full Fibre Regional Offer
24 month contract
Broadband with Standard Line Rental
Pay your bill by monthly or quarterly Direct Debit
Pay As You Go
This calling plan gives you access to make and receive calls on your home phone.
Each call costs a set amount per minute, whether it's to a UK landline number or a UK mobile, day or night.
-------------------
So £31.99 a month for the total package (£2 extra for the PAYG plan). As my current broadband 'deal' ends in April, I may leave it a few weeks and call again with some competitor prices to see if I can get more of a reduction on the £29.99.
I realise we could have gone with Vodafone and got it cheaper per month but weighed it up and just decided to stay with BT. I just didn't want to take the chance of the order going wrong with VF and having to possibly chase up Quidco and/or cash voucher. We also already had BT's Smart Hub 2 in place so when the guy fitted the new service it just needed an update. It was fitted in a couple of hours with no problems but i know that's not always the case.

Thanks for this. It reassures me to know that this is a reasonable deal from BT! As I said initially, I don't want the hassle of changing to someone else, only to come back years later on a better deal, possibly with some extra hassle included. Never any issues with BT!johnbhoy70 said:

I just wonder now whether to wait until the price increase and call them again then. I have until April. In the meantime, I will cancel my calling plan and 'special' voicemail and just leave the land line in place. Seems daft to leave the land line live when I hardly use it, but there's always a chance some long lost soul will try to call me on it!

No worries! 'Reasonable' deal is probably the best way to describe it to be honest. Their 'normal' price on the website for Full Fibre 100 seems to be £35.99 and they seem to want a £5 for PAYG and keeping the landline which i think is a bit steep. So the £31.99 seems ok. It's better over the course than anything i've seen recently and also better than their current half price for 6 months.Maz1963 said:

I'm afraid i can't help with looming price rise in April of circa 15% but from your last paragraph you're obviously well aware of it0
