Excess features you now couldn't live without

ice maker and chilled water dispenser on my American FF. didn't really use it at first and never wanted it, now can't drink unfiltered warm water0

On the other hand, I was really intrigued by the HUD in the car, when we got it I tried it for couple of weeks, and found it was doing my head in, distracting and almost stressful. I switched it off and it was a physical sense of relief.
(Edit: all of these were "excessive" features in the almost new car we gotThe previous owner ordered top spec which we wouldn't have done due to lack of funds, but as he returned the car with few miles on it the price became affordable and we bought it)
Gas: warm air central heating, instant water heater, Octopus tracker
Electricity: 3kw south facing solar array, EV, Octopus intelligent0 -

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.5 -
Ooh that’s exactly the sort of thing I was thinking of @freebear 😍
Well some sort of kit car, or maybe one of these -
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.1 -

I think my original intent was lost a little... I had meant to identify features that happened to come with what you bought rather than ones you intentionally choose. We've had some great examples, lights inside my dishwasher, countdowns on other dishwashers, a camera in an oven seems a liked feature, one in a fridge is more dividing. Electric heating in car seats, steering wheels and belts all seem popular even when not selected.
I am not sure electric garage doors technically fit in the chain... not sure how many buy doors and unexpectedly find they are electric but can fully appreciate the benefits of opening gates/doors etc from within the car
We once had the antithesis of this thread... electric gates that phoned you if someone keyed your door number. In principle great other than to open the said gates you had to walk out to them and press the button.
Never mind, you haven't spoilt my enjoyment of the thread you started-----if a few MSE threads attracted so many fun replies it would be a good thing. I fully accept that MSE deals with mainly with people who are struggling in these awful economic times---and it helps so many of them with good advice. But surely all posts do not have to be about so many of our citizens who are scandalously living in poverty. Some can bend the MSE rules ----just like your original post did ?
But, as you have singled me out to admonish for not following the rule you set ( instead of sending a post to the forumite who posted pic of an old car), I will give you an answer which may result in you giving me a higher grade in my exam : the first time I ever bought a PC and found that by hitting the touch pad the whole keyboard was lit up, enabling me to type without having to put room lamps on or scrabble for a torch. Since then I have come to see it as a shining light in a dull techno world (pun intended)-----and jolly useful.
Hoping I am back in the spirit of this fun site and that you are pleased with me1 -

Aye I'd love an Atom. But I would settle for that lovely wee Caterham 7..... or a Morgan (which is what I thought @freebear's was).
It was the no doors or windscreen that got me thinking, first one in my head was an Atom.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.0 -
See I loved the HUD! I still miss it now and can't wait to get a car with it in again. Found it stopped my eyes wandering away from the windscreen to check sat nav directions and my speed.
I wish the Tesla had a HUD, the screen is above the centre console and I find it totally distracting.
