A friend has a wifi enabled fridge, so in the middle of the supermarket she can see inside her fridge to see what she needs. I've never thought that worth the cost, but she says she couldn't live without it.

Or do what we do.  Look in the fridge, freezer and cupboards.  See what we've got and what we haven't.  Write a shopping list using this wonderful new invention (not everyone may have come across it yet) called "Penandpaper".  Go shopping with this magical "paper" in your pocket.  Works a treat

    It'll never catch on.

It works reasonably well but there are always times when you are in the middle of the supermarket looking at said paper and noticing that milk isnt on it. Now was that because there was plenty of milk in the fridge or because you forgot to check? Do you buy an extra one just in case or not?

Our fridge/freezer isnt smart but I can certainly see the use of a camera in the fridge. Doesnt replace the shopping list but can supplement it

The next model up from the oven we bought had a camera in the top so you can double check on your cake/bread etc from the sofa without having to get up... I decided I wasnt that lazy.

For me it's Hue lights and automated blinds. Oh and the Roombas!

Every bulb in our house is linked to Hue. I have several scenes due to come on at certain times.

Bedroom: around the time we usually go up the bedside lights and other lamps come on nice and low for some ambient light.
Office: my lamp is on 9-5:30 but it starts to dim from 5pm onwards to prepare me for the end of the day
Hallway and landing: all on motion sensor. Come on for 1 minute as you pass through. At night they come on super low so not enough to wake anyone up
Dressing room: also comes on super low at night so either of us can get dressed in the dark without waking the other up if needed.

Also love the presence mimicking options so when we're on holiday I set that on instead and it turns the lights on and off in a presence-like manner. Makes me feel much happier!

For the blinds, we have a really large window at the front of the house and I hated coming home and being able to see right in, but I also didn't want nets or anything as when I'm in I like to be able to look out on the garden. So electric blinds that come down at sunset, and come up in the morning. Perfect.

Roombas upstairs and downstairs. My upstairs Roomba is hoovering around upstairs right now. It does a really good job at picking up all the general fluff and hair that collects on our light-coloured carpet. Also picks up the litter that the cats manage to flick onto the floor in the bathroom.

Our downstairs Roomba is much more intelligent as it has mapping so if goes off and hoovers specific areas at specific times. Again, does the cat litter tray area daily to get any bits that they flick around. Does the kitchen and the hallway daily and then everywhere else twice a week.

As a result I barely hoover now, my cleaner comes once a fortnight and does all the edges and nooks for me and I give the stairs a quick hoover every few days. But it's so nice having clean floors. I'm saving up for the mop roomba!

There's always that one time though that you pop to the supermarket and realise you forgot to check. I wouldn't buy a wifi fridge just for that feature, but if you've got it it's surely useful! No need to be facetious about it.

I bought our car secondhand at auction. I scoffed when I found out that it had heated seats,  but I would definitely want those in any replacement car we buy.

Similarly, the driver's seat is electrically adjustable. As my wife and I share the car, it’s useful that the seat automatically adjusts itself depending on which key is used. Again, I scoffed originally, but it would be something I would look for in a replacement car.
We just got a new car and it has the same features, love it! The seats and mirrors adjusted based on our keys is amazing. And the heated seat and steering wheel were extra nice in the icy weather we had.

Oh yeah, the car also has a remote start from an app so you can start off the windscreen de-ice before you get in. Unfortunately we didn't have it set up the one time it would've been useful, when I was rushing for the train in the recent cold snap and had to wait for the windscreen.

In terms of white goods, I don't need any special features. I tend to use one setting and that's it, maybe two on the oven. I don't need programmers, WiFi or anything like that. Less things to go wrong if they are basic and my appliances are still going strong 12+ years later.

With cars the only special requirements above the norm I needed, were heated windscreen, Aircon and speed limiter. Anything else is overkill and I don't want or need.

Our fridge/freezer has WiFi, but no camera. All you can do with the app is adjust the fridge temperature setting. Now why would anyone want to do that remotely? You can't even see what the actual current temperature is. Even if it had a camera, it would have to be able to view the contents from many angles to see what is running out, and they presumably can't see in the freezer to see how many chips you've got left. ;)
It does have some diagnostic features through which the manufacturer can see what fault codes it has, pretty much like reading a car I suppose. The one time I've had to call the manufacturer to report a fault with the water dispenser, they didn't want to connect to it, but sent an engineer round to sort it out. The WiFi is switched off now.
When I bought a new washing machine, I went for the one without WiFi. My friend called my a killjoy, saying it might have enjoyed talking to the fridge!

Our ovens act as a hub for the white goods so if they are off their display will show which appliances are on and how long they've got left to run if anything is on a timed programme (eg dishwasher) and fault codes etc.

Not sure if they enjoy talking to the oven but your friend may have been right to a degree.

If we’re talking about cars - parking sensors.
and 360 degree camera, which was one step up from my reversing camera.

Same thoughts with a heated steering wheel!

    Also, central locking.

    Reversing cameras are amazing IMHO.
I have a friend with a car with the 360 degree view for parking, which is even more amazing when it works, but he says when the forward facing camera gets dirty, which it regularly does in our climate, the system just says it is unable to generate the view and shows nothing. There isn't an option to have just the rear facing view, and that's in a Porsche Macan, so not exactly a budget car.
