Good evening.
As above I have a Lenovo IdeaPad S145. The problem is when I unplug from the charger the screen goes very dim.
I have checked the settings and it is set to have the same display brightness whether on mains or battery, but it isn't doing what it says on the tin.
I've just unplugged and am on battery, but with my eyesight, I'm struggling to read the screen without effort.
I have googled but the only search results brought up issues with a black screen.
I'm not savvy with technology, so I hope I'm not doing something blatantly/obviously wrong, but after a couple of months trying to remedy this, I could do with a bit of help, if you can.
Thanks in anticipation.

Battery saver mode will shove the brightness as low as it will go.Can you alter the brightness manually when its in battery mode? There should be some keys you press on the keyboard to alter it, usually something like Fn and F2 or similar. That should stick for next time.1

I have just tried using the brightness buttons on the keyboard whilst on battery, if I press the minus brightness button, the screen goes black! One press on the plus button and it goes back where it was.
I tried Fn and F2 but it hasn't made any difference.
I appreciate your help. Thanks0 -
How old is it? I'd suspect that the battery is on it's last legs if it's a few years old, you can get a new one for £30 (that's just the first search result, there may be other options available). You can run a battery health check in Windows 10 or 11.1

I had/have an issue on my Asus laptop. I googled that there was a problem with the ribbon (?) connector to the screen which lost connection on battery, but worked fine when plugged in.A replacement battery made no difference.1

I will try the battery health check. Thanks @SiliconChip.0
