If it was that easy don’t you think someone would have done it already?0

People do do it already, but if you're making 1p/l while the supermarkets are making 10p/l you'll be a while before you can buy a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, never mind 100th site.oscarward said:If it was that easy don’t you think someone would have done it already?
Unfortunately the market needs regulating.0 -
Why would RAC want to do that? They’re a commercial company, seeking to maximise the return to their owners, i.e. the Singapore government and a Luxembourg-based French investment company.daveyjp said:I think its time for RAC to buy hundreds of fuel stations so they can operate them and provide fuel at the lowest price possible.4 -
When the same supermarket can currently sell the same fuel in a 10 mile radius for between £1.59 and £1.73 per litre depending whether they have local competition there is something wrong. Previously all the local ones were within a penny or so. Now they only drop if the price from a competitor is lower.daveyjp said:I think its time for RAC to buy hundreds of fuel stations so they can operate them and provide fuel at the lowest price possible.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
I had to drop family in Blackheath this morning, needed to fill up.
Went on Petrol prices, found Tesco Lewisham 1.5 miles away.
Diesel at £164.9, that was 9p cheaper than any others I had seen on my travels.
When I filled up it was £162.9 so even cheaper.
Costco is the only place I’ve seen cheaper.

Most garages these days are totally dependent on the profits made from their non-fuel sales. The mark-up on confectionery/cigarettes/crisps is vastly greater than the tiny margin on fuel.
Fuel is used to get the punters through the door, where they will then make other impulse buys.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Tesco just down the road in Kent is £1.609, price at a local garage has been £1.595 for diesel since mid December and the supermarkets around have belatedly followed suit.Bigwheels1111 said:I had to drop family in Blackheath this morning, needed to fill up.
