better ways of dealing with notifications?

I've signed up to get notifications for a number of long running posts and am grateful this is an option.
The problem is that I've discovered some of these are very busy so this morning I discovered 133 notifications waiting. Now the vast majority were for 1 or 2 post with a few random ones scattered like pearls amongst all those little piglets.
Is there or could there be any way to skip forward 5 pages of notifications or similar? (like one can do easily on posts)
Or could the notifications be sorted by posts so there's only 1 button for the 47 notifications for one particular post?

Hi @Brie
Notifications is one of the big things our provider has been working on, and there should be some big changes this year.
I believe the first of these changes is scheduled to be rolled out in just a few months.Join the MSE Forum
