Apparently it's 3, but I can't find the actual Halifax confirmation of that.CuriousGirl said:How many Halifax Reward accounts can you have?1 -
Thank you, I managed to open my second one yesterday but as a new customer. My application to open it as an existing Halifax customer was immediately declined so applied as a new one and was approved. Tempted to try my luck with the 3d one.flaneurs_lobster said:

My Oh and I don`t mind less than 30 minutes money "shoggling" a month for a benefit of £30."Respect"? Do you mean to the UK financial institutions which receive 3.5% for your savings money held as reserves by the Bank of England, the same institutions that raise mortgage rates much faster than savings interest rates and who have benefited from this increase in "margin" and finally, who have numerous low interest savings accounts?0 -
Certainly not! Respect to those who have the fortitude and patience to wring some quids out of the Banks this way."Respect"? My fiancee and I earn £48/month (net of fees) between us in current account reward payments. That's not including all the variable benefits like 1-2-3 Lite Cashback, the magazine Lloyds send and the benefit from the enhanced savings interest rates we get with Natwest, RBS, Lloyds and Barclays.
It's very little effort honestly. An hour a month all in, including skimming/filling saving accounts.

It also doesn't have to be just sloshing money about for the sake of it.
I use one of my reward accounts to fund my YBS regular saver
Another funds my Vanguard ISA
Admittedly the 3rd one I do just dump the money in a savings account & transfer it back again0 -
I've just seen on the MSE best bank accounts page regarding the £5 monthly reward:
'A few of these, such as the Halifax Reward Account, are paid with basic-rate tax already deducted. Others are paid without any tax removed.'
Why would they pay it with tax removed? It's just confusing, and apparently you can write to HMRC if you don't even pay basic rate yet to get it reimbursed. It sounds like perhaps a holdover from when tax was automatically paid on savings interest:
'These payments don't count as savings income for tax purposes and instead are classed as 'annual' or 'miscellaneous' payments. This means that the rewards don't count towards your personal savings allowance, and they're liable to be taxed. If you're a non-taxpayer, you should claim back any tax taken using the R40 form. Higher and additional-rate taxpayers may need to pay more via tax returns.'
